Dallas Strawn, Ph.D.
Former Lewis-Palmer Superintendent

As a public educator for 50 years and a previous superintendent of the Lewis-Palmer School District, I unequivocally support the candidacy of Mr. Ron Schwarz for a position on the Lewis-Palmer Board of Education. I became acquainted with Ron and his family while serving as an assistant hockey coach for LP High School approximately 10 years ago.

I have found Ron to be selfless through the demonstrated dedication he has given to supporting the needs of others. He has proven his business acumen and skills though his successful leadership and creativity provided to the Cisco Systems while still giving to others in his “spare time.”

Ron is not entering into the board election for any reason other than his desire to help the district provide the best experiences for all children enrolled in LP. He has studied the role and demands of school board members extensively by meeting with numerous community members, teachers, current board members and researching the powers and duties of school boards found in Title 22, Article 32, in Colorado Revised Standards.

His focus, knowledge of current educational issues, problem solving ability and communication skills will provide a consistent direction for the Lewis-Palmer School District seldom found in one individual. Ron’s interest in serving on the Lewis-Palmer School Board is driven by his high standard of personal integrity, which in my opinion, will enhance the positive reputation of the district. Ron’s communication skills will enable his ability to see district problems as opportunities to positively work with others in the role of “facilitator” and “teacher” in seeking solutions. He is fearless, a successful leader, collaborative, thoughtful and dedicated to helping the Lewis-Palmer School District strategically face future educational challenges. Ron’s service to the district will have a very positive impact on the students, faculty and stakeholders of the school district.

Former Lewis-Palmer Superintendent

A strong District 38 school board provides the framework in which our children can grow intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a safe environment. A strong school district protects the quality of life and assessed property valuations of the patrons of our community. Individual school board members represent all of us in the endeavor of raising our children to be successful contributors to society. That is why I endorse Mr. Ron Schwarz for election to the Lewis-Palmer School District 38 school board. Ron is an advocate for children, and he knows that a challenging curriculum, safe environment, exceptional teachers and administrators, and high achievement levels lead to a successful and joyful life. He is a dedicated father, husband, successful businessman and community member willing to giving to causes greater than his own self interests. He is not motivated by a personal or political agenda but only a sincere desire to step up and give back to our community and its children in a significant way. In November, please join me in voting for Ron Schwarz and electing him to the District 38 School Board. Thank you.

I have known Ron and the Schwarz family personally for 20 years. Ron has been a blessing and catalyst for success in my life and many others. I admire Ron’s integrity, passion for helping others, and work-ethic. His diligence led to an outstanding career with Cisco Systems and now in retirement he is applying that fervor towards ensuring thriving lives of the next generations. Out of the goodness of his heart and for decades now, he coaches others to make wise educational, professional, personal and financial decisions. I witness the young lives he enriches through Air Force Academy Cadet Sponsorships, Study Abroad Sponsorships, internships, family and friends with longevity. Additionally, Ronhas a deep love for our country and our Veterans. He has been a volunteer and leader for Veterans Squaring Away Veteran for many years. To have Ron Schwartz on the D-38 School Board would be an invaluable asset and blessing to the community, students and faculty.

I unreservedly endorse Ron Schwarz for the D-38 school board.

Ron will serve the D-38 community with an unshakeable commitment to integrity, a burning passion to not only set high goals and standards--but to exceed those goals and deliver a first rate product--successful graduates that contribute to our great community and country. Ron understands that our schools have to operate at a high level--not just get by and get them out the door by the time they finish their senior year in high school. Our graduates need to be prepared to not only think about themselves, but how do they give back to the community that brought them this far. The words of President John F Kennedy have never been more true, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". Substitute D-38 for country and you'll have some idea of the passion Ron has to serve our students as part of the school board. As a 27 year veteran of the Air Force I was lucky enough to serve as a commander for my last seven years and also as an educator as the Air Force Chair at the National War College. It's easy to recognize that Ron is exactly the kind of person I want helping to bring up the next generations of young Americans. Let me say it again, I unreservedly support Ron's quest to SERVE on the D-38 school board.

As a long-time District 38 resident and voter, I am casting my vote for Ron Schwarz in the upcoming Lewis-Palmer D-38 School Board election. Ron’s credentials as a successful business executive, dedicated community champion and involved parent have been on display for many years by those of us fortunate enough to know him.

From the time he was encouraged to seek a Board role, Ron has put forward a tireless campaign to actively listen to students, parents and district residents to better understand how he could meaningfully contribute to creating a successful learning environment for the our most valued community assets - our children. Ron’s dedication to servant leadership, professionalism and being a positive voice for District 38, have unequivocally impressed me and garnered my full support.

As a parent with six children that have gone through this district, five of whom have earned their college degrees and a sixth beginning his freshman year at college, I believe Ron will be a true advocate for all students, and that he will help ensure that every child has the chance to maximize his or her potential. I wish Ron the very best in his efforts to serve our children and community and urge my District 38 neighbors to cast their vote for Ron Schwarz.

I am supporting Ron Schwarz in his candidacy for the Lewis-Palmer D-38 School Board. I have known Ron for almost 20 years from the time our kids went to school together and played hockey in the district. Based on what I know of Ron as a person and successful professional, I think he would be a natural as a school board member. Ron is dedicated, level headed and works well with a wide variety of people. He takes the time to do his homework and fully understands the issues he and others will be working on.

One of the things I have always admired about Ron is his selfless desire to give back and see others succeed. Education and the critical role it plays in our community need individuals like Ron who can place the interests of others above his own for the greater good – something in short supply in today’s largely partisan and divisive environment.

In his initial diligence for this Board role and now in his campaign, Ron has been asking all stakeholders, but especially the kids, what they think is working and what could be further improved in our schools. As such, he will be very open to input from a wide array of sources if elected. As a parent of children that have gone through our district, I think he’ll be especially sensitive to the concerns of parents while still being a staunch advocate for our children. For all of these reasons, I hope you’ll join me in checking the box for Ron for District 4 Lewis-Palmer School Board representation.

As a longtime business owner and resident of District 38 I believe adding Ron Schwarz to our school board would be an invaluable enhancement to our community. Interacting with Ron, both professionally and socially for 20+ years I have witnessed his ability to communicate, research, analyze and present solutions in thoughtful, logical and innovative way to people of all walks of life. His experience as a business leader and community volunteer are second to none. I can think of no one who would act in the best interest of our students, faculty and community better than Ron.

My wife and I are fortunate to know Ron and his family and we definitely feel he would bring something special to the District 38 school board. We encourage you to vote for Ron Schwarz.

I have known Ron Schwarz both professionally and socially for over 7 years. Ron and I have worked side by side in our nonprofit organization Veterans Squaring Away Veterans (VSAV) assisting, mentoring, and advising Veterans experiencing transitioning challenges. Throughout that process, Ron’s innovative approach to problem solving, his determination to find and implement lasting solutions to complex issues, and above all his compassionate devotion to the well-being of those he encounters made a significant impact on the lives of our Veterans in need. These traits, along with Ron’s strong leadership, business acumen, and fiscal prudence, make him the ideal candidate for District 38 Board of Education.

Most importantly, Ron’s exemplary character allows me to say without hesitation, that as an elected official he will always act in the best interest of the students of District 38. He will quickly earn the trust and confidence of his fellow board members, and work arm in arm with District 38 educators to greatly enhance the educational experience for students. Please join me in voting for Ron Schwarz on November 5th.

To Who it May Concern,

As a D38 graduate (2012), I whole-heartedly endorse Ron Schwarz for our School Board. My family and I have known Ron and his family for over a decade. I have first known him as one of my best friend’s father and a mentor. I have always had the upmost respect and always thought of Ron as a leader, but now that I am have started my business career it is becoming even more clear that Ron’s is a leader, a doer, a pillar of integrity and one who acts swiftly on his insight to “skate to where the puck is going to be”, instead of where it has been.

In addition to 20 years of sponsoring USAFA Cadets, hosting multiple Foreign Exchange students and leading a Veterans non profit, Ron has always managed his successful business career, the extensive travel, his personal and community service life in a way that gets things done … and done well.

Ron Schwarz will be a leader for our School District. He will build teams and processes that deliver lasting results for the next generation of students. I was very fortunate to grow up in a community and district that was very distinguished and held its students to a high standard. I believe that the future and current students deserve the same (or better) quality education and experience that I had in D38

I have the pleasure of knowing and working with Ron Schwarz for the past seven years. I was introduced to Ron by a mutual acquaintance because of his desire to help Veterans and their Families. I run a non-profit, in Colorado Springs, called Veterans Squaring Away Veterans. When I met Ron for the first time, I immediately was impressed with his commitment to others and desire and drive to produce unparalleled results. I asked Ron to become our Vice President for Operations and his untiring efforts and dedication to excellence is without equal. Ron has an incredible level of energy and a work ethic that is seen in very few individuals. A unique asset of Ron’s is his ability to communicate and ensure complete understanding by all involved. Without question, I fully endorse Ron Schwarz for the D38 School Board.

Gary Gabel, Former & Founding Principal Palmer Ridge High School

It is with great enthusiasm and support that I endorse Ron Schwarz for the Lewis-Palmer School Board. I have known Ron and his family for over 12 years as a parent, community member and business owner. In all three areas, I have observed the same, genuine person. Ron has always demonstrated integrity, passion for his community and the ability to think outside of the box.

Ron is one who truly cares about the students in the community, the schools and the teachers. As the founding principal of Palmer Ridge High School, I had the pleasure of meeting many different parents over the years. What sets Ron apart from most of the parents I have met is he truly cares about all students, which is further demonstrated by his willingness to run and serve on the school board without having any children or grandchildren in the current system. Too often people want to get involved, but they have an agenda that is directed by their own students. That’s not the case with Ron. He asked me last spring if he could come to our school and meet with student to hear what they thought was working and not working in our district. I can honestly say that was refreshing to have an adult want to hear directly from the students about what they thought was important to their educational experience.

I’m confident that, if given the opportunity to serve on the District 38 School Board, Ron will make a positive difference for all students and will go about solving problems with a new energy and passion that will help guide the board in a positive direction. I encourage you to cast your vote for Ron Schwarz!

Sincerely,

Nick Anderson, Firefighter, United States Marine

My name is Nick Anderson and I support Ron for a position on the District 38 School Board. I served as a Marine in Iraq and now serve our community as a firefighter and paramedic. Ron has chosen to serve his community through his volunteer work, even choosing to end a very successful career early to have a more active role volunteering and serving the veteran community. I have personally seen Ron make sacrifices and completely dedicate himself to helping others without asking or expecting anything in return. I believe that is why Ron is running for the school board, because he believes in serving his community and wants to see success for those around him, including our teachers, staff and students. Ron has already spent numerous hours meeting with parents and faculty and asking them "What does good look like to you?" Ron has no personal or political agenda and can truly make the best decisions for our schools without any outside influences and without ulterior motives. Ron is one of the smartest people He has extensive higher education, leadership certifications and real world experience. He has been incredibly successful in the business world. I believe he will bring that success to our schools as well.
